The Burton European Open kicked off at Laax, Switzerland, yesterday, and as usual the finals will be webcast on go211.com. The slopestyle finals will take place on Friday the 15th of January and the halfpipe finals are scheduled for Saturday the 16th.

World Snowboard Day 2009

World Snowboard Day unfortunately doesn't fall in our season so traditionally it has been left to anyone in the northern hemisphere to celebrate on our behalf. However the crew from Freshpeaks.com and Republica Bar in St Kilda are celebrating the day which will feature music, beer and the B Movie, as well as all the other latest videos. So don't let a little thing like snow stop you celebrating World Snowboard Day on December 20th.

Trigger BBQ 2009

Trigger Brothers had their annual end of season BBQ up at the summit of Mt Buller on Sunday. Each season the amount of snow to ride varies however the good times don't with everyone leaving the BBQ full of food and happy with one last snowboard for the season.

Chris de Campo was there representing Burton along with Brand Manager Shane Carter who brings us these images of de Campo making the most of the snow and the bungee.

Camber Vs Rocker The Results

At the SIA trade show in Canberra we held an election to let the people have a say on camber snowboards versus rocker snowboards (reverse, 0 camber, combination rocker, etc) you can view many of the topics up for debate on the Burton site under the Take a Stance videos on Burton TV.

It was a close battle with both parties putting up strong arguments, however the industry heads at SIA have spoken and by the slimmest of margins camber has come away with the victory.

TSC Team Challenge Wrap Up

Last month just before the lifts stopped at Mt Buller the TSC crew held their annual Team Challenge. The Team Challenge is based on the idea of challenging snowboarders of all levels to get together and work in a team environment. Tom Pelley was one of the guest judges/coaches for the event which is a more laid back fun environment for riders to progress.

The B Movie Sydney Premiere

The "B" Movie had it's final stop of the Australian tour last night in Sydney to a full house at the Dendy cinema in Circular Quay. Once the credits finished rolling and all the free popcorn was consumed it was off to the Bridge Bar directly above the cinema for a few drinks. The guys from Life Without Andy came along and captured all the action. Check out the gallery here.

The B Movie In Melbourne

The "B" movie had it's Melbourne premiere last night and from all reports it was a fun night. The crew over at Popmag.com.au have a few photos of the night posted up.

Tomorrow night (Thursday the 22nd) is Sydney's turn. This is the final stop for the "B" in Australia so I am sure it will be a big night. All the details can be found on the Facebook page.

Kick Off Of The B Movie In Brisbane

The "B" Movie Australian tour kicked off on Saturday night in Brisbane with an intimate showing at The Fort in Fortitude Valley. The Fort is a cool little center that harbors a range of art studios, photography spaces and a recording studio. Being a flight away from the nearest hill doesn’t seem to matter with these guys and they polished off all the free Corona and Jager and then drank the rest of the bar dry. Some amazing dudes up in that there town. Nice work Brisbane.

Next stop for the B Movie is tomorrow night (Tuesday the 20th) in Melbourne. All the information can be found on the Facebook page. Don't forget the Melbourne Premiere is a come one come all event as no ticket is required, so just turn up and we will squeeze you in.

B Movie Tour Update

The "B" Movie tour in Australia had an unofficial kick off at the SIA trade show in Canberra on Tuesday night. The screening of the movie was a last minute idea to give the attendees of the snow industry trade show an sneak peek at the movie before the tour officially kicks off this Saturday the 17th in Brisbane.

Also very important information for the Melbourne stop you DO NOT REQUIRE A TICKET FOR ENTRY. This is ONLY for the Melbourne tour stop on October 20th 2009 so come one come all.

Bangers And Stash

The Remarkables had their annual “Bangers and Stash” end of season event, it is basically a BBQ and jam format event at the hut in the Stash run.This year the weather was perfect with the beer and snags flowing from midday and not stopping until the lifts shut. On top of the normal Stash features the park staff had also created a whole bunch of custom features to add to the fun.

Battle for Supremacy Dew Hut Jam Clips

If you missed the TV broadcast of the Battle for Supremacy Dew Hut Jam the crew over at Mountain Dew have posted the show as 9 You Tube clips over on their blog. Tom Pelley and Jye Kearney represented Burton in the event and the guys took out best trick. This clip has Jye and Tom explaining the finer points of the trick that scored them some dollars.

TSC Team Challenge

The TSC crew are holding their annual Team Challenge at Mt Buller next week starting on Monday the 19th of September.

Tom Pelley and the rest of the TSC comp team will be riding with the teams over the 5 days of spring snowboard madness. The TSC team challenge is about challenging snowboarders of all levels to get together and work in a team environment to achieve the best overall result in a laid back competition including big air, rails, skate, dress up day, best photo.

The catch is that all teams are chosen by the TSC coaching team and are required to have varying abilities so that the riders need to work together with all team members on all of the games to get the best results.
With loads of prizes from Burton every-one is sure to walk away with more than something and overall Team Challenge glory.

Mikkel Bang Best Trick At Stylewars

Stylewars managed to catch a break in the weather for the last day, after being locked down for most of the event. Burton Australia good buddy and frequent visitor Mikkel Bang took out the best trick with a switch back 12. There is a little bit of a back story to this as Mikkel is recovering from a broken foot that he suffered earlier in the year at a Mountain Dew event in the USA. He came over to Australia from New Zealand where he is getting some extra on snow time to help with his rehab, he wasn't even planning on competing and at 4am on the last day of the event he was still up having a good time. Check the Stylewars video above for Mikkel's run as well as the other international visitors Charles Reid and Marko Grilc.

If Mikkel is still in rehab mode we wonder what he has up his sleeve when he is 100%.
